UConn basketball coach Jim Calhoun will undergo surgery next week to address a lower back condition and he will miss the Huskies’ next two games. Temple in talks to join Big East (AP)

A person familiar with the talks says Temple is in negotiations with the Big East about joining the conference in all sports next season. The person spoke Wednesday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the talks are still ongoing. Temple played in the Big East in football only from 1991-2004, but was forced out of the league.
