Flags wave as fans celebrate Monday, April 2, 2012  in Lexington, Ky.  University of Kentucky fans celebrated after they watched the Wildcats defeat Kansas 67-59 in the Final Four championship game.

Before his confetti-flecked suit gets back from the cleaners, John Calipari will be on the road. Such is life for a coach who recruits all that NBA-ready talent — especially when those players get in the habit of bringing championships back to their ol’ Kentucky home. Cal’s latest group of one-and-doners doesn’t have much left to prove at this level.

Syracuse will be playing for a spot in the Final Four because of numbers. C.J. Fair put up some like he hadn’t in a while, and the Orange finished with offensive statistics that Wisconsin just doesn’t allow in a 64-63 victory in the East Regional semifinals Thursday night that wasn’t secure until the final buzzer.

Top-seeded Syracuse beats Kansas State 75-59 (Yahoo! Sports)

It had been a while since Syracuse played like the team that spent all season ranked in the top five. In the second half Saturday, the top-seeded Orange looked like that group and maybe even better, pulling away to a 75-59 victory over eighth-seeded Kansas State in the third round of the East Regional.

BYU’s record comeback beats Iona, 78-72 (Yahoo! Sports)

President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron saw a huge comeback. Had they stuck around a little longer, they could have watched the biggest one in NCAA tournament history. Noah Hartsock scored 16 of his 23 points in the second half and the Cougars came back from 25 points down to beat Iona 78-72 in the first round Tuesday night.

Vanderbilt beats No. 1 Kentucky, 71-64 (Yahoo! Sports)

Jeffery Taylor scored 18 points and Vanderbilt rallied to beat No. 1 Kentucky 71-64 in the Southeastern Conference tournament championship game Sunday, ending the Wildcats’ 24-game winning streak. John Jenkins and Festus Ezeli both had 17 points for Vanderbilt (24-10), which was playing in its first SEC tournament final since 1951, the year of its only other championship.

Suspended by the NCAA right before last year’s Big 12 tournament, Perry Jones III seemed in a mood to make up for lost time. So the 6-foot-11 Baylor sophomore made all eight of his shots in the first half Thursday and wound up with a career-best 31 points while leading the hot-shooting Bears to an 82-74 victory over Kansas State.
